sabbatical

So right now there's a lot going on. Jessica, a dear friend and the co-author of this blog, had her twins early and they are both having difficulties. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. It's been a rough few weeks all the way around and I'm finding that I just don't have time or energy to keep up with this blog right now. I'm hoping that I'll be up and going again at some point but I'm seriously lacking motivation to coupon, plan and shop when Jess and her family are going through this.

If I find any particularly good deals while I'm out, I'll post them on my personal blog so I hope you'll check in over there from time to time.

Thanks for following along for the last few months!

Back in business

Last week I had a nervous breakdown took a much needed break but now I'm heavily medicated back so let's get on with the deals, shall we?

I found a $3/$40 Meijer coupon at the park yesterday. It was a little muddy but I used it. Oh yes, I did.

Total before sales/coupons: 96.21
Total spent: 38.92

Whole Foods:

(1) awesome milk @ 3.99
(1) Corn poblano soup @ 3.99
(1) organic applesauce @ 2.69
(2) soy hot dogs @ 2.99, used 1.50/2

(1) pint grape tomatoes (not pictured... oops) @ 1.99

I also used $5/$25 Plum Market coupon since Whole Foods will take competitors coupons. What's shocking and slightly nauseating is that this small amount of stuff would have cost me well over $50 at regular retail price.

Total before coupons but after sales: 37.68
Total after coupons and bag refund: 28.08

Produce delivery: $23

Taking a blogging break

I'm taking this week off from blogging here. Too much going on to keep up with three blogs, two crazy kids and a partridge in a pear tree. I'll be back next week, and will continue to track my savings if I make it to the store... but we've pretty much been living off our stockpile for the last week anyway. I will miss your lovely faces, so please be sure to check back next week.

CVS this week

I don't know why the only freebies at CVS lately have been weird energy drinks, but at least they're giving away Carnation Instant Breakfast this week too. I'll actually drink that.

I bought:
(1) Newspaper @ 1.75
(2) packs of eco-friendly compostable paper plates @ 2.50 each
(1) Carnation Instant breakfast @ 4.99

Paid with 10 ECBs, paid 1.74 out of pocket, got back 4.99 ECBs for the Carnation.

(PS: At my CVS the Carnation was located in the aisle with the supplements and bars and stuff, not in the grocery aisle.)

Rite Aid last week

We had a birthday celebration this weekend and in all the chaos I forgot to post an update on my Rite-Aid run. They were out of SoyJoys. Boooo. But they did have Garnier and Kotex. So I spent:

3.99 on Garnier, used 1.00/1 coupon - 2.99
6.00 on (2) Kotex tampons, used (2) .75/1 - 4.50

Total: 8.09

Will get back 5.99 in Single Check Rebate.

Total: 2.10

I also forgot to add my two newspapers to my total, so I did that just now.

Meijer Ecostore Products

This month, Meijer is coming out with a new line of green cleaning products from EcoStore USA. $5 Dinner Mom has the scoop on the launch as well as the link to a $1.00 coupon. In addition to a dollar off with the coupon, you will also receive a 2.00 catalina coupon with the purchase of any EcoStore product, good for any purchase at Meijer. Prices start at 4.39, so that's a pretty good deal.

Check out Bargain Briana for a review of the laundry detergent.

Thanks, Jill, for letting me know about this one!
