Use your .50/1 coupons at Meijer this week to get FREE Green Giant Steamers (they are on sale for .79 each). Just remember that most Meijer stores only double two like coupons per transaction, so if you have more than two make sure you use the self-checkout and do multiple transactions.
We've been living off of our stockpile for the last week or so, so I haven't made a serious trip to the store or CVS recently. (In fact, I haven't been back to CVS since my midnight Black Friday run with Jessica. Good times.) But today, the two-year-old went to Grandma's and the baby went to bed early. So tonight, I shopped.
First up was Meijer: Meijer was having a Super Saturday sale which I dominated. The games were on sale and were buy one get one free. The ad also had a 20% off coupon for any general merchandise item. So I got each game for 4.99, when the original combined cost would have been 35.87 plus tax.
The lip gloss was free after using the $4 Maybelline coupon from last week's paper.
The Pampers were on sale for 8.99, plus I had a 1.00/1 coupon and a 1.00 off your next order coupon from the Prego deal, so I got those for 7 bucks.
Shrimp was 3.99 and I used a 1.00 off any shrimp wine tag coupon.
Mott's for Tots was a dollar each after sale and coupon.
Sargento cheese was 2.00 each after sale and coupon.
Total spent: 36.39 Total saved: 61.14
Next up, Kroger:
The carrot cake was free after coupons and raincheck.
The sour cream was free after coupons.
One pack of Cottonelle was free with coupon and e-coupon. The other was .49 after coupon.
Bic Soleil refills were 1.99 each after sale and coupon, regularly 7.29 each. I really like this razor and CVS keeps paying me to take them so I figured I'd use up the rest of my coupons for refills before they expire tomorrow.
Sobe drinks were a dollar each and I had some .40/1 coupons which doubled, making each one 20 cents.
Hershey's Bliss was 1.75 each after sale/coupon.
The socks were .99 each after coupon.
Hunt's tomatoes were .60 each after sale and coupon.
My most exciting find was the Arm and Hammer deodorant. They were on sale 10/$10. They actually have a paraben-free, aluminum-free deodorant which was included in the sale. Huge score. I bought a few for us and will donate the rest.
Total spent: 27.30 Total saved: 68.55
Don't forget that Kroger's sales run through Sunday, so if you see something interesting here you still have time to run out tomorrow.
Still looking for that special gift? The Melissa and Doug dollhouse is on sale for 47.99 at Amazon right now... and it ships free with Super Saver shipping. The dolls are sold separately, but the house alone normally retails for about $160 so this is a steal!
Andrea at Mommy Snacks posted the heads-up that there will be a .50 Cottonelle coupon in the paper this Sunday, which means FREE toilet paper at Kroger (the 4-packs are 99 cents). Is there anything better than free TP? I think not.
These little soaps are 1.49 at Whole Foods in their Whole Body section. I love the concept of Johnson's Buddies soap... it has a mesh bag around it which makes it easier for tiny hands to grip. I'm going to attempt a homemade version of the Buddies with this soap, which is natural, biodegradable and cruelty-free. The plan is to get some tulle as well as some type of cord, possibly hemp. I'll wrap each bar in the tulle, secure with cord and have slip-free, kid-sized bars of soap for the kids' stockings.
Method sprays, wipes and hand soaps are marked down to 3 bucks at Target this week. Not a huge price break since they're normally priced at 3.29, but if you're brand loyal to Method it's a decent sale. Also, if you go to Method's home page you can sign up at the very bottom for their email-list which is rumored to offer special coupons and promotions from time-to-time. Just make sure to use that junk email address if you don't want them coming to your regular email account.
This week Target has Crest White Strips Premium on sale for 27.99 and you receive a 10.00 Target gift card upon purchase. In last week's P&G coupon insert there was a 5.00/1 coupon. After the gift card you'll end up paying about 13 bucks which is a super-duper price for making that already lovely smile even brighter.
Erin at Coupon Cravings posted this coupon which gets you a free item up to a $13 value when you spend $10. Bath and Body Works has lots of nasties in their products but they do have a line called 100% Pure which contains no toxic or synthetic chemicals. Lip glosses are $13; prices online go up from there but you may find other cheaper products in stores.
Kelly at HuckabyFam is hosting a cloth diaper giveaway at Diaper Swappers. Just head over here and leave a comment, predicting the gender of her soon-to-arrive bundle of joy. She will choose a random winner on December 11 after her ultrasound. Fun!
I have officially resurrected my crock pot. I love it. I adore it. I might marry it if I wasn't already hitched. I love that I can put pretty much anything in it, walk away, and have a delicious dinner waiting for me without doing the 4:30 what's-for-dinner scramble.
Here's the lasagna that I literally threw together for dinner tonight, using what I had on hand:
Lightly grease inside of crock pot. Set to lowest heat setting.
In a bowl, combine 1 egg and 16 oz. container of ricotta cheese. Add to the mixture: chopped onion 1 clove of garlic, minced 1/3 c. water a teaspoon of sea salt a dash or two of pepper two tablespoons of dried parsley Mix well.
Thinly slice a zucchini. (I used a cheese slicer.) Or use any other veggies that you have on hand. Spinach and mushrooms also work particularly well.
Layer the following: 1/4 c. spaghetti sauce dry lasagna noodles (break to fit) ricotta mixture zucchini slices shredded mozzarella
Repeat layers until you run out of ingredients. Top with some grated parmesan and let it cook for a few hours, until the edges are brown and bubbly. Seriously amazing. I may never make an oven lasagna again.
Simple Green Naturals cleaning products are 50% off at Meijer through Saturday. They are normally 3.99, so they are ringing up at 1.99. Click on my "coupons" link to the left... on page 8 there is a 1.00/1 coupon. Print twice, and get two for .99 each.
Prego is on sale this week, 3/$5. Buy 3 and get a coupon for 1.00 off your next order. There are .50/1 Prego coupons on boxes of Pepperidge Farms frozen garlic bread, 2 of which will double to a dollar. So here's the math: Buy (3) Prego @ 5.00 Use (3) .50/1 coupons = 2.50 Pay 2.50 for 3 jars of Prego (.83 a jar), get 1.00 OYNO.
Kraft cheese is on sale for $2, including RBGH-free varieties. Buy any 3 Kraft cheese and get a free box of Ritz crackers.
Select varieties of Aunt Millie's bread are buy 1, get 2 free.
Meijer Organics apple juice, peanut butter, jam, salsa and milk are on sale.
Avocados are a dollar. We eat a ton of these so this is a great stock-up price for us.
Also be on the lookout for a tearpad on the Odwalla juice display in the produce department. There are Qs for .55/1. I grabbed a bunch because these regularly go on sale at Whole Foods.
